After getting the good word from a geekier-than-I friend that Gentoo Linux was perhaps not the distro for a beginner, on his always-trusted advice I picked up Ubuntu Linux, and the install was... ahem... so easy it kinda made my head spin.
So. I now have a Linus box as well as a Windoze box, and since I used to run a Mac, I'll be a tri-platform nut in no time. Ah, geekery.
