I just found out that Mary, a friend of mine just had a bilateral mastectomy, as a result of a breast cancer diagnosis. Go on over and see what she has to say.
I can’t begin to explain how much horror I feel at the dreaded cancer attacking yet another of the people I know and care about.
Please, everyone, go do something in a helpful way. Educate someone you know. Learn the symptoms of the godzillion types of cancer and listen when your friends talk about their ailments. Give money or go join Spike and raise money during the OVCA walk. Last year, after the walk, we went straight to visit our friend Marianna in the hospital. She’d just had surgery to debulk her ovarian tumour. Marianna’s (infrequently updated) blog is over here.
One person in my life with cancer was one too many. And I know I’m not the only person who’s thinking this right now.
We need to find the cure.
